Dr. Carissa Lumby is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and is a certified Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Lumby graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, Central Texas Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Lumby enjoys working with patients of all ages. She was awarded a Contact Lens Clinical Excellence Award by UHCO and fits various contact lenses including soft, toric, multifocal, gas permeable, hybrid, and scleral lenses. She manages ocular conditions such as ocular allergies, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. She has a special interest in the treatment of dry eye syndrome, which she has published research on. She spent one of her clinical rotations co-managing refractive surgery (such as LASIK) and cataract surgery.
In her free time Dr. Lumby likes playing tennis, cooking, reading, and crafting and DIY projects. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cats, Merry and Pippin. She looks forward to taking care of you and your family at your next appointment!
