Georg-Andreas Pogány is CEO of USJAG.

Georg-Andreas Pogány was born in Munich, Germany in 1971. After graduating from High School he first attended St. Petersburg Junior College, where he earned an Associates in Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement in 1993. After a two year break from school during which time he got married and worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in Tampa, Fl, he enrolled at the University of South Florida and earned his Bachelor Degree in Criminology in the summer of 1998.

His military career started in late 1996 when he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was assigned to Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fl where he served with Helicopter Anti Submarine Squadron 75 until he switched services in the summer of 1998 and enlisted in the United States Army. He attended Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort McClellan, Alabama, Delta Company, 82nd Chemical Battalion for training as Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare Specialist, MOS 54B. Georg-Andreas Pogany was first assigned to Fort Hood, TX in January 1999, where he served with the 1st Cavalry Division until the December 2000. In January 2001 he was assigned to Fort Huachuca, AZ where he was retrained as a Human Intelligence Collector/Interrogator.

After his training in Arizona, Georg-Andreas Pogány was assigned as a Human Intelligence Collector to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Military Intelligence Detachment at Fort Carson, CO. in June 2001. Following his graduation from the Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy in February 2003 and the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course as well as the Advanced Interrogation Course in August of 2003, then Staff Sergeant (SSG) Georg-Andreas Pogány deployed to Samara Iraq as a member of Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha 092, Charlie Company, 3rdBattalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

After being incapacitated by toxic drug levels from the anti-malaria drug Lariam/Mefloquine and being initially diagnosed with a Combat Stress Reaction, SSG Pogány was returned to Fort Carson CO from his deployment to Iraq in the fall of 2003. Subsequently he was diagnosed to be suffering from a brain injury caused by Lariam Toxicity. After exhaustive medical treatment for his injury he was medically retired in the rank of Sergeant First Class and honorably discharged from the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the United States Army in April of 2005. Since his retirement from the United States Army Sergeant First Class (Ret) Georg-Andreas Pogány has worked tirelessly and with great dedication and distinction as a Veteran’s and Active Duty Service Member Advocate on the issues of Health Care, Combat Stress, and Military Justice.

Georg-Andreas Pogány was a member of the National Board of Directors for the National Gulf War Resource Center from May 2005 until September 2006. From September 2006 to Dec 2007 he held the position of Investigator and GWOT Outreach Coordinator with Veterans For America in Washington D.C.. Additionally, in the Summer of 2005 he created, stood up and managed the Colorado Based pro bono community mental health services initiative “Just One Wounded Warrior – J1W2”, which connected and linked both Veterans and Active Duty Service Members with mental health care professionals. In his last professional assignment Georg-Andreas Pogány was a Project Manager for the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes veteran employment program as well as an independent investigator and legal analyst.

Prior to that he worked as the Director for Military Outreach and Education with the national non-profit Mental Health organization Give an Hour. And prior to that as an Investigator and OIF-OEF Outreach Liaison with the Washington D.C. based Public Interest Law Firm, the National Veterans Legal Services Program in their Lawyers Serving Warriors program from January 2008 to September 2009. Georg-Andreas Pogány lives in Denver Colorado.
