Silicon fertilizers provide resistance against diseases and insect attack, unfavourable climatic conditions, and optimized soil fertility to enhance the growth of different types of plants and crops. Optimization of soil fertility is defined as improved physical & chemical soil properties as well as maintenance of nutrients in plant-available forms. Silicon fertilizers are employed in different crops such as barley, wheat, corn, sugarcane, cucumber, citrus, tomato, and others for increased productivity along with sustainable production. Calcium silicate is the most commonly used silicon fertilizer, which is obtained as a by-product of steel and phosphorus production.
