The ways that job candidates are assessed and interviewed may be changing in response to what many call 'the digital age'. This finding is the result of increased attention on the recruitment process, across industries. Typical job interviews are assumed to be strict affairs, where the candidate sits to be questioned, perhaps one-to-one or as part of a group. However, it seems recruiters are now opting for digital methods of assessing candidates, believing it to be the most efficient way of truly testing the modern worker. A report in The Guardian detailed such a change; in the form of the accountant firm Deloitte using a mobile phone game within its interview process.

According to research carried out by networking company Approved Index, up to a third of people rate a good working relationship with their boss as a primary aim for within the working environment. A recent report used by CareerBuilder has found that 66% of people surveyed sometimes feel so tired as a result of their job that they find functioning properly difficult. This implies the operations of many workplaces may be adversely affected – and therefore current levels of output may not be at their optimum. It also suggests that a number of people may be ill-suited to their current job roles, as tiredness is potentially indicative of the individual being put under excessive pressure and strain. If a person is in a job suited for them, this should not be happening.

According to recent research released by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation in partnership with Indeed, has highlighted that just over 50% of recruitment managers and consultants are satisfied with their reward and pay. Furthermore, the statistics highlighted that 24% are dissatisfied whilst another 24% responded that they were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. Therefore, only a very slight majority of those at the top level of recruitment are satisfied with the economic provisions of their position, which is potentially concerning.

According to recent results released by Q2, a body working with the public sector, 61% of member consultancies have expressed that they expect staff recruitment to increase during this quarter of the year. Furthermore, of those involved in the business survey, 57% expect the UK economy to improve over the next 12 months.
