Mobile Shoppers Are at Risk of Fraud but Not Due to EMV

According to a recent study, consumers are now embracing the use of mobile devices to do their online purchases. And it seems like unscrupulous people are already looking for ways to exploit the convenience of mobile channels, aside from their usual targets that include one-click check-out merchant services and digital gift cards.

Apple Pay Is Set to Debut in China

Apple mobile payments and digital wallet service Apple Pay, was off to a great start this year, according to chief executive Tim Cook. But now that year is almost at an end, the projections are looking better than expected. ShopKeep's most recent survey of its 20,000 merchant clients shows that about 26% of respondents had accepted an Apple Pay transaction by the end of September, compared to 2.5% in February.However, the company is only looking at this as a small step in the right direction as it still has much growth to do in the mobile payments space. A survey conducted in the mid of 2015, by Pymnts.com and InfoScout found that only 15% of consumers who were eligible to use Apple Pay had tried to actually use it, which was projected to roughly 3 million -3.6 million people in the U.S, or about 1% of the population.

Amazon Announces Shutdown of Its Mobile Payment Gateway 'Register'

Amazon Register, which has made it easier for merchants to accept payments on the go is being discontinued. According to Amazon's spokesperson, those merchants who are still using it, have until February 1st, 2016 to switch to another POS system. In order to help those merchants in need of a new payment processor, a well-known provider in the merchant payment service industry, Netcom PaySystem will now start offering a free mobile device and set up to all current Amazon clients that were affected by these recent news.
