Smart glass and window are glazing whose characteristics can be changed when heat, light, and voltage are applied. Generally, they change properties from translucent to transparent, allowing some wavelengths of light to pass through. When they are installed in the buildings, they create climate adaptive shells that save costs required for heating, air-conditioning, and lighting. Moreover, they avoid costs involved in installation and maintenance of blinds, curtains, and motorized light screens. Smart glass and window technologies include electrochromic, thermochromic, photochromic, micro-blind, suspended-particle, and polymer-dispersed liquid-crystal devices. The adoption has been widely increased in offices, commercial buildings, and vehicles.
