Using advanced spectroradiometers, monochromators, NIST traceable standard lamps, and NIST Traceable sensors, the company's state of the art testing laboratory can provide absolute spectroradiometric analyses with optional detailed reports, showing sample performance under strict parameters.

Solar Light Company, Inc. Introduces New PMA-Series Sensors for UV, VIS, and IR Wavelengths

LogoSolar Light's versatile NIST-Traceable PMA-Series Digital Sensors represent the pinnacle of accuracy, durability, and selection on the market today. These units measure discrete bands of the electromagnetic spectrum from the UVA, UVB, UVA+B, UVC, Visible Light, and Infrared regions. Both narrow and broad bands are available to fit any application, including germicidal requirements, environmental probes, and sensors for biologically weighted spectra (such as the erythema and CIE action spectra.) Over 135 different sensors are available in a variety of packages to fit any environment, from indoor clean rooms, to harsh locations outdoors, to 100 meters under water. These Digital Sensors work in concert with Solar Light's advanced PMA-Series Radiometers, and are typically used as discrete units in applications where portability is critical. The company also offers Analog versions of these sensors, for users who wish to use their own data loggers, or plan to use a voltage source to provide excitation voltage to the sensor and a digital volt or amp meter to read and convert the results.

Solar Light Company, Inc. Announces New UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) Testing Service

LogoUPF is a spectral transmission analysis which can quantify exactly how much UV radiation permeates materials. Solar Light Company, Inc.'s new state of the art Ultraviolet Protection Factor Testing Laboratory performs accurate UPF testing for clothing and fabrics to all major worldwide standards: AATCC 183, BS EN 13758-1, GBT18830-2009, and NZS 4399. The UPF Rating Scale is between 15 and 50. For example, a shirt with a UPF rating of 15 means that 1/15th of the sun's UV radiation can reach the wearer's skin, while a shirt with a UPF rating of 50 means that only 1/50th of the sun's UV radiation can reach the wearer's skin. The company can also provide a UPF Certification Report optionally which details the specific measurements of the samples, the equipment used in the testing, and all relevant data points. Typical turnaround is 2-3 days after receipt of samples, and pricing starts at only $250.00 for the first 2 samples.

Solar Light Company, Inc. Introduces New Solar Simulators for Photovoltaic Cell Testing

LogoSolar Light's new state of the art single output PV Cell Testing Solar Simulators produce Class A Air Mass 1.5 Emission Spectrum to accurately replicate full spectrum sunlight, with 1 sun output intensity and excellent +/-5% uniformity. They can also be quickly and easily configured by the user to provide UVA only, UVB only, UVA+B, or custom spectra optionally. Models are available from 150W / 1.2 (3 cm) to 1000W / 6 (15.25 cm) with vertical or horizontal beam orientation, and round or square beam shape. These precision research-grade instruments are specifically designed for testing photovoltaic cells in accordance with the latest ASTM, IEC, and ISO laboratory standards. Our comprehensive PV Cell Testing Kits arrive with everything required to immediately begin testing, including the Simulator, Power Supply, advanced Data Logging Radiometer, PMA-Series Full Spectrum Class II Pyranometer, safety glasses, and more. A Source Meter and Calibrated Reference Cell are also available optionally.

Solar Light Company Offers Accelerated UV Materials and Plastics Testing

LogoSolar Light now performs Accelerated UV Testing at various levels of humidity and temperatures, replicating outdoor and indoor environments per customer requirements. The company's solar simulators use a xenon arc lamp design with filters and lenses to produce the entire solar UV spectrum. They generate the light to replicate the UV part of the solar spectrum without heating the sample. After plastics are exposed to the UV light, their response is used to calculate the effect that UV light would have on the plastic over years, or an average response per year of exposure.

Solar Light Company, Inc. Announces New 6D Ultraviolet Safety Meter

LogoToday, Solar Light Company, Inc. announced the introduction of its new 6D UV Safety Meter. The 6D is a valuable tool for any industry that involves worker exposure to UV radiation. It is sensitive to ultraviolet radiation specified as hazardous in standards published by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists. Those standards state that the total UV exposure in an eight-hour period should not exceed 3 millijoules per square centimeter at 270nm. Other wavelengths have hazardous potential related to that of 270nm by the Spectral Weighting Function (see product data sheet for details.) The 6D Safety Meter monitors the integrated effect of all ultraviolet wavelengths from the light source. It has a self-contained sensor mounted on the top panel of the meter. It is activated by a sliding ON/OFF switch. The maximum safe exposure time in hours and 1/100 parts of an hour is shown on the LCD. A reading of 10.00 hours indicates a source too weak to reach the Threshold Limit Value during 8 hour working day.

Solar Light Company, Inc. Announces New Solarmeter UV Index and UVB Lamp Meters for Reptile Husbandry Applications

LogoToday, Solar Light Company, Inc. announced the introduction of its new Solarmeter® Model 6.5R Reptile UV Index Meter specifically designed for reptile husbandry applications. This new model updates our legendary original Model 6.5 UV Index Meter with attractive, informative graphics displaying the Ferguson Zone chart at the top of the meter. This chart provides the user with an instant, accurate dose reference for the meter's UVI readout. Many scientists and breeders worldwide rely on the original Model 6.5 UV Index Meter, so the new Model 6.5R is unchanged operationally or in terms of specifications from the original. We just made this meter easier for reptile owners to use by updating the graphics with the latest scientific research about proper UV dosages for reptiles. Likewise, the new Model 6.2R Reptile UVB Lamp Meter updates the original 6.2 with reptile-themed graphics and a sleek new black case, while maintaining the functionality that reptile owners have relied on for many years.
