The Virtual Assistance Chamber of Commerce (VACOC) is buzzing with activity during the month of August as it conducts its second annual survey of the Virtual Assistant industry. This effort is of keen interest to the media, as over 8,000 Virtual Assistants from around the globe are invited to participate. Results are available at no-cost to all who participate.

Faced with increasing competition from offshore and commodity service providers, Virtual Assistants and other independent service providers must find ways to deliver more value while differentiating themselves from the emerging competition. Leveraging virtual office technology is an increasingly popular method by which Virtual Assistants and independent professionals are growing their businesses.

Soloprenuership is on the rise. In particular, the growth of women-owned businesses has exploded over the past two decades--and these companies tend not to have employees (approx. 75%) and tend to be service-based (over 50%). Each one of them is a potential intellectual property incubator, creating valuable intellecutal capital for its clients and itself in the course of any given day.

Virtual Assistants and other solopreneurs are masters when it comes to do-it-yourself enterprise. Though blessed with flexibility and agility, as small business owners, they often must make do with much less than their larger business counterparts. Sometimes that means venturing into territory in which they don’t necessarily have experience--such as writing press releases.
