You may have heard of fantasy sports and the rakes associated with them. While it is true that you pay a rake to play fantasy sports, the underlying logic is flawed. In order to play fantasy sports you need more money than the doorman at Walmart would charge you. This increased revenue does not correlate with improved service or better odds; instead, it goes straight to shareholders' pockets and marketing. A better way to view fantasy sports rakes is to look at the currency that in-game players use to make their bets.
