From a flurry of rock bands in the area, London’s The Dark Tides surge to distinguish themselves from the rest with a sound that is strong, raw and lingering. Currently, they are working on recording their debut EP that is slated to be released before summer 2014, and their track “Make Me Wanna” will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s Indie Anthems Vol. 5.

For music lovers looking for some hot new indie rock artists to add to their playlists, WiFi PR Group has a few special picks featured on this week’s Flavorbomb, where WiFi PR gives music fans and industry movers and shakers a taste of upcoming independent artists. This week’s three picks are straight off of WiFi PR’s recently released compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 4.

Named for a peak in the Cascade Mountains southwest of Mt. Ranier, StormKing is the product of a musician hitting his stride at the pinnacle of his performing and songwriting career. Backed by a supporting band that believes in bandleader Duke Adkisson’s music and message, Adkisson, the lead singer and guitarist, delves into a host of different life experiences, producing notes, words and progressions that are blended together in ways that people are not accustomed to experiencing. He calls it music that “makes you feel.”

Sydney’s own up-and-coming rock purveyors, Tiger & the Rogues, are busily working on a slew of new material, including their upcoming single, “Troublemaker,” which will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5. For a true sense of rock ‘n’ roll with a woman’s touch, music lovers will find an enticing sound that lives and breathes the essence of the genre.

A mini orchestra of reggae, soul, dub and afrobeat, Chocolate Strings of Brisbane, Australia, are one of the most hard-working bands in the area, with scads of festival performances and a few quality recordings under their belts. After a brief hiatus, the band has returned with more recording efforts in the pipeline, including their upcoming single, to be released in April 2014, and the inclusion of their track “RudeWorld” on WiFi PR Group’s compilation Indie Anthems Vol. 5.

When it comes to Detroit music stylings, The Infatuations take the best of what the city has to offer and transforms it for a new musical era. Blending all the great attributes of Motown, funk, soul and rock ‘n’ roll, the group has quickly risen to the top of their game and made a name for themselves in the local and national music scenes with wildly successful recordings, music videos and live performances. Next on the lineup for The Infatuations is a potentially huge night at the 2014 Detroit Music Awards, where they are leading in total nominations with a whopping 14 nominations across three musical categories, the upcoming release of their latest album, Detroit Block Party, and the inclusion of one of their tracks on WiFi PR Group’s Indie Anthems Vol. 5.

Baltimore’s Waterplanet is a dynamic duo of indie rockers who bring a touch of folk and power pop to their distinct sound. Their track “Love Song” will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s Indie Anthems Vol. 5 compilation, set to debut in spring 2014.

Hip-hop has amassed an enormous following since its birth four decades ago. Hip-hop lovers are now left with a seemingly unending amount of choices as to what to listen to. But WiFi PR Group aims to make that easier with its recent release of its compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 4, on which it includes three rising independent hip-hop stars that are poised to make waves in the indie scene both nationally and internationally.

Independent Brooklyn-born hip-hop and rap artist Jayo Da CEO has worked diligently over the years to craft a sound and career that would help him stand out in the hip-hop crowd. Surdu challenges the general perceptions of what music can feel and sound like with his out-of-the-box renditions of electronic music sounds set to the motion of a psychedelically influenced mind.
