According to recent figures shown in TIME magazine, it appears that online shopping on mobiles and tablets is growing increasingly popular. For example, on 'Black Friday' – a day typically associated with high customer spending (27th November) – 28% of online sales were made through Smartphones and tablets. This shows the scale of demand and interest for accessible shopping sites on-the-go, and something that the best businesses are striving to cater to. Recent reports have revealed that the workplace furnishings industry is making big advances in the UK, powered by technological development and business growth. Valued at approximately £64 million a year, this is an optimistic figure which is expected to rise in the winter months: a time when many offices take the chance to refurbish as well as decorate for Christmas. The need for workplaces to have appropriate furniture is a basic one, and therefore the market is rich with opportunity.

According to recent statistics released in association with UBM, it is estimated that areas of the office furniture market is set to grow significantly between 2014-19, at a CAGR of 5.58%. This could be seen as indicatory of teleworkers (people working from home) taking increased interest in the equipment they use to work especially – as this is a key area where money and attention is being focused, indicatory of changing working habits. However, this is in itself expected to be part of a wider trend of people spending more money and thought on their working spaces – businesses included.

According to a prominent business magazine, 30% of companies who invest in office design work in the outsourcing industry. This means that a large proportion of people who consider the interior design of their office to be crucial to their work, are those who often have multiple connections across businesses – as those in outsourcing often do. The study also found that this sector was closely followed by IT, FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods including processed food and drink for instance), and other professional services.

Leading UK supplier of office furniture, Bevlan, have recently commented on the donations made to The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, who provided the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and offices at Shrewsbury Business Park.

A recent study conducted in Cambridge has found that over one in four office workers find themselves making notable mistakes at work due to poor sleep and feelings of fatigue. The research, issued by the Sleeping Duck found that of those questioned, 53% of the 2,000 said that they woke in what many would call a 'bad mood' and thus mornings at the office were not necessarily a positive or productive time.
