Wimmer Reflects on Phoenix As He Gears up for Vegas

NASCAR favorite Scott Wimmer returned to Phoenix this past weekend for the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Speedway. Wimmer and his Key Motorsports team went into weekend on a mission to rebound from their outing at Daytona that was ended prematurely due to engine failure the week before. Wimmer ran an extremely strong in practice sessions in the Key Motorsports’ #40 Chevrolet Impala and qualified in the 25th position. “I was focusing more on creating a car that I knew could be in contention for the long runs, which turned out to be good with so few cautions in the race,” said Wimmer.

2010 GRAND-AM sensation, Dion von Moltke will be testing both the #77 Doran Racing Ford/Dallara in the Daytona Prototype Class and the #86 Mitchum Motorsports Porsche GT3 Cup in the GT class of the GRAND AM Rolex Series at Homestead Miami Speedway on Dec. 1-2 to unofficially kick off the 2011 racing season. Von Moltke has prior experience with both teams and will be assisting the teams in their car set up and driver development with the new drivers for each team that will be there. He is considered one of the fastest growing stars in the GRAND-AM circuit and is earning a fan following worldwide. This past season was considered his breakout season and the racing world is eagerly anticipating his 2011 season in which many are expecting him to reach the next tier of his driving career.

Mike Sweeney Racing is teaming up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help fight blood cancers. During the Rolex 24 At Daytona in February 2011, Sweeney will be racing on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. P1 Groupe, Sweeney’s motorsports management company, will be working in conjunction with LLS in securing corporate partnerships on behalf of Mike Sweeney Racing and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Sweeney has a strong personal connection in racing to find a cure for blood cancers as he lost his Uncle Chris to the disease.
