Assistance League of Greater Portland is one of the more than 120 chapters of Assistance League, a national nonprofit organization that puts caring and commitment into action through local community based philanthropic programs. The flagship Operation School Bell® program provides new school clothing for children in need. Additional programs provide enrichment services to youth in a residential treatment program, Life Story Books for foster children and Assault Survivor Kits® for victims of domestic and sexual violence who forfeit their clothing for forensic evidence. Funds for the programs come from donations, grants, events and Assistance League Thrift and Consignment Shops in Beaverton Ore, entirely staffed by member volunteers.
