Currently a Senior at Culver Academies, Ava Viohl will enter University in the fall of 2019 to pursue a double major in Economics and International Relations minoring in French. Founded in 2017, Unbeauty Mark is the product of her personal experiences and her TEDx Talk advocating for a body positive society by empowering others to reject the air brushed and filtered version of today’s beauty standards. Unbeauty Mark, donating fifty percent of proceeds to the United Nations Girl Up Foundation, allows her to further her goal of affecting the world in a small but global way.

Viohl spends her summers combining her love for volunteering and a drive to make a difference while immersing herself in different cultures around the world. She feels privileged to have lived amongst and been educated on the needs of displaced people by Burmese refugees in Thailand, learned from and volunteered for Aboriginal children in Australia, and taught village children while making infrastructure improvements to a school and learning from the nomadic Hadzabe tribe in Tanzania. Viohl enhanced her experiences by attending the Girl Up 2018 Leadership Summit where she listened to and engaged in presentations led by global leaders such as Bob Bland, Brea Baker, and Emi Mahmoud. Also, she participated in workshops teaching how to advocate for girls in terms of education, safety, and leadership. Putting these skills to use, Viohl lobbied on Capitol Hill for educating refugee girls and ending gender-based violence. The culmination of all these experiences and seeing firsthand the result of underfunded schools, Viohl chose to fundraise for the UN Foundation’s Give a Girl a Chance campaign to support educating refugee girls in Uganda. In less than I month, she surpassed her goal of raising $1000 to support an entire classroom which includes educating 20 girls for a year, desks, books, teacher training and more.. Currently Viohl have raised $2,600+ and counting.

Viohl have been able to live out her passions and begin her journey to her purpose. But she is only getting started.
