Brown McCarroll

Serving Texas-area companies, individuals and nonprofits, Brown McCarroll, LLC, offers clients legal representation in a wide range of practice areas. Since its founding in the 1930s, the attorneys at the firm have expanded and built on core legal services including finance, risk management, litigation and real estate. Earning national recognition for its environmental, energy, and health care practices in 2011 from the law directory Chambers USA, Brown McCarroll continues to meet a broad range of client needs. In 1989, the Austin, Texas-based firm merged with the Dallas-based White, Cox, and Larson as well as Oaks, Hartline and Honey out of Houston. The new practice abbreviated its name from Brown McCarroll & Oaks Hartline to Brown McCarroll in 2001. Continuing to broaden its depth of expertise, the firm added 30 health care lawyers and litigators through a merger with Hilgers & Watkins, PC, in 2003. Today, Brown McCarroll’s legal team serves clients in a variety of practice areas including real estate, business law, legislative affairs, and commercial litigation. In addition, the firm’s attorneys have worked for more than 25 years in the Texas electricity market, specializing in mergers, acquisitions, generation development, and asset management. For more than two decades, Brown McCarroll environmental law attorneys have litigated cases involving project permitting, air quality, and water and waste management. Also focusing in health-care law, more than 20 Brown McCarroll lawyers serve health-care providers, including general and specialty practitioners, medical centers, laboratories, and medical device manufacturers. Contributing pro bono legal advice and charitable donations to dozens of local and national nonprofits each year, the firm supports several environmental, health, and civic groups, such as the American Cancer Society, the Foundation for the Homeless, The Nature Conservancy, and Austin Habitat for Humanity.
