The Surgery Department provides much of the inpatient, outpatient and emergency medical care for more than half a million residents of the West Side of Manhattan, as well as for patients throughout the New York metropolitan region and besides - admitting patients, serving outpatients, it provides emergency care for over 100,000 patients every year.
