Donate Don't Dump is a teen run non-profit determined to change the paradigm of food waste in the U.S. and draw attention to the issue of hunger. The organization was started by a 12 year old girl who designed a new logo to promote "the next generation of recycling-Food Rescue". Over 96 billion pounds of good food ends up in landfills each year; enough to fill 91 Empire State Buildings! Each month we get surplus and short dated food donated to food banks, and distribute over 20,000 pounds of rescued food. We have Chapters in four US States, two countries with over 4,000 members and partners. Food rotting in landfills is a major source of methane gas pollution, wastes precious resources like water, and is the largest source of solid waste by weight.Surplus food should go to hungry children not landfills!
