Everyday Drains

Food can cause drain blockage in kitchen sinks, food waste disposers, and drains. Blockages are common in food waste disposer units where food particles get pushed into the pipes, cupboards, or walls. Even food like rice and grains may eventually harden as they decompose and block up your sinks or food waste disposer. In fact, any food that is not adequately chewed can end up being a clogging hazard for your drain system. In this article, we shall explore why food particles tend to cause blockages. Then we will look at some of the steps you can take to keep the drain running smoothly without causing problems such as stoppage caused by residues of food left inside! The dangers of having a blocked drain are not just that you can get it unclogged. It also increases the chances for contamination, since wastewater and other hazardous substances will be flowing right back into the room where you prepare your food, instead of down to the sewage system which is its final destination. Also, have in mind that most drains have very low water pressure built into them and this causes a slow discharge rate--they do not expel wastewater as fast as toilets do. So if you leave chunks of food inside the pipes they can eventually harden enough that they close off completely. If they block off completely then water simply backs up behind them. This can cause overflows which get all over the floor, or they can also cause water to start seeping up from underneath your sink. The other problem is that the wastewater itself can be contaminated with bacteria and this will spread through your whole kitchen if it backs up. So we should take care of food particles that they should not be wasted inside the drain pipe.
