The tradition of gift exchange on the day of Rakhi is not at all modern, it is age old. Yes definitely, the medium of gift exchange has changed because of advent of technology and also owing to changing lifestyles. Earlier siblings lived close and were able to come together for celebrations but now it is not possible every year so Rakhi is sometimes celebrated apart!
