Over the past 30 years, Rick Case Bikes for Kids has made a real difference in the lives of children by donating bikes to kids who could not afford them. Rick Case Kia at Gwinnett Place will be collecting bikes that are no longer of use to you, but of unimaginable joy for some child who expected little or nothing this year. Without even opening your wallet, you could change the holidays (and years to come) by bringing your unused bike to Rick Case Kia and giving it a new home – and a new life. While all Rick Case dealerships will be collecting bikes in tradition with every year, Rick Case Kia at Gwinnett Place will be giving a free $10 gas card to each generous person who stops in, drops off and makes a difference. Within the first 11 years, Bikes for Kids had successfully given over 100,000 bikes to just as many grateful children. That's the idea behind Rick Case Bikes for Kids. "Year after year, I see how much good this program does. Rick Case Bikes for Kids makes it easy for individuals and businesses to get involved and help needy kids during the holidays. Through this program, you don't have to dig deep into your wallet to make a difference. Most people have a bike or two they're not using,” explains program founder, Rick Case, a national Honda, Honda motorcycle, Hyundai, Acura, Audi, Mitsubishi and now Kia dealership group. The Bikes for Kids program was started in 1982 at Rick Case's bike shop in Northeast Ohio. "The kids would come in and stare at those shiny new bikes, knowing they couldn't afford one of their own. I knew there had to be some way I could help," explains Rick Case. Rick Case Bikes for Kids Campaign, together with the Boys and Girls Clubs and other local charities and schools, collects and distributes bikes to needy children in time for the holidays. We have set our goal at 10,000 bikes and the only way we can achieve this goal is with your commitment and dedication. You can help by asking your friends, neighbors and relatives to bring in a bike they no longer need to any Rick Case dealership starting October 1 through December 20, 2011. Through the Boys and Girls Clubs and other local charities they will be distributed to children in time for the holidays. If you see someone unloading a bike at the dealership please offer to give them a hand and thank them for their contribution. Please get involved and take an active role in this very worthwhile cause. LOCAL AND NATIONAL COVERAGE "Bikes for Kids" will be promoted through national newspapers, magazines and other media, as well as local radio and television stations, and newspapers in Cleveland, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Atlanta. Most radio and TV stations in all markets will be running 10, 20 or 30 second Public Service Announcements. "Rick Case Bikes for Kids Days" will be declared by the Mayors of Atlanta and Duluth, Georgia, Cleveland, Euclid and Bedford, Ohio, and Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Hollywood, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Cooper City, Sunrise and Weston, Florida again this year, as well as others. If there are any other Mayors that you would like to contact to make a proclamation, please let us know and we will help you.
