JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Northeast Florida residents don’t realize the impact they can make with the homeless. Some donate their money, others their time . Now Northeast Florida artists can donate their artwork. Artists Against Homelessness is a project of The BUZZ Magazine, The Sulzbacher Center, The Cummer Museum, and Client Focused Media in which artists in all media can create awareness in the community by donating. their work on the subject of homelessness. The project’s purpose is to tell the stories of people affected by homelessness and raise awareness that people may become homeless for several different reasons, not just drug and alcohol addictions. Artwork must be submitted through mail or dropped off at the BUZZ Magazine offices by 3pm October 21. All artists who participate may win awards including cash, gift cards for art supplies and the opportunity to have their art displayed in the Cummer Museum for a month. "I think our arts community, especially our individual artists, are extraordinary for their dedication to getting involved in the needs of our city." said Hope McMath, Director of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. "From homelessness to healthcare and from education to downtown development, there is hardly any cause not positively impacted by our local artists." “We are excited to be a beneficiary of the A Palette of Hope project." said Sara Dougherty, Development Director of the Sulzbacher Center. “The efforts of the Buzz Magazine, Client Focused Media and local artists will help raise awareness about homelessness in Jacksonville and also raise critically needed dollars to help fund the Sulzbacher Center’s comprehensive programs. We truly appreciate their support.” Homelessness occurs for many different reasons, but it is sometimes hard to relate to those who have endured this misfortune. The intent of A Palette of Hope is to raise awareness and bring the community closer together as well as help those in need. “Art is a type of social glue that people can relate to, whether they are down on their luck or at the top of their game,” says Mike White, publisher of The Buzz Magazine. “It brings people of all walks of life together and helps during tough times. The ranks of those fighting homelessness are growing and everyone’s support is needed. The benefits from such a great cause will be seen for years to come, and the community thanks those who have already contributed.” Visit AAH online at www.ArtistsAgainstHomelessness.com, Facebook or Twitter.
