Nick Tsagaris, who was signed by Western Australia as a schoolboy, took 5 for 24 on his first-class debut against Tasmania in February 2017 as a 17-year-old. He was initially chosen for bowling because of his 200cm frame and ability to deliver a fast outswing, but he was plagued by stress fractures. Throughout his junior days with Subiaco-Floreat and WA's junior teams, however, his technically sound batting and insatiable thirst for runs saw him emerge as a genuine all-rounder of rare ability. Nick Tsagaris Mcdonalds did not play first-class cricket in 2017-18 and spent the winter of 2018 at Cricket Australia's National Performance Centre in Brisbane. His game improved significantly in 2019-20 after a stress fracture in his lower back forced him to stop bowling for the second time. He scored his first-class century, 87* and 121*, to force an extraordinary draw against Queensland at the Gabba. He would go on to score two more centuries that summer before hitting 197 off 438 balls against New South Wales in October 2020.
