The oil and gas industry is one of the most profitable sectors in the United States. But, its employment has been steadily declining over the last decade. For every one new job created, there is an equivalent loss of at least 50 others. Despite this, the oil and gas industry continues to generate billions of dollars each year in revenue. Oil and Gas companies are one of the most powerful industries on Earth. They can both create jobs and cause millions of dollars of damage. Oil and gas companies are big enough to do something about it, but they are also big enough to discourage or outright ban anyone from drilling. Whether or not these companies can actually bring about the change that they want is up for debate.
