The banking structure in Sweden is very developed. There are about 114 which are majorly classified into four categories; Joint-stock banks, foreign banks, Savings banks and Cooperative banks.While all the banks in Sweden are of different sizes and specialization, the banks which have made it to the top 5 in the country are Nordea, Handelsbanken, SE-banken, Swedbank and the Ikano Bank. Out of these five banks, Swedbank, Handelsbanken, Nordea and SEB are active in all the segments of the financial market of the country and account for over 80% of the total assets of all the Swedish banks. Their share exceeds 80% in the deposit market and lending market is 70%.
