Emotional abuse of a child is commonly defined as a pattern of behavior by caregivers that can seriously interfere with a child’s cognitive, emotional, psychological or social development. Child abuse is also referred to as psychological maltreatment. The 4-Course LEAP program presents a certificate of completion at the end of the course suitable for submission to the Harris County Family Law Court. LEAP series is also eligible for professional development units (PDU) and continuing education units (CEU). The definition of emotional abuse is often complex. However, professionals agree that, occasional negative attitudes or actions are not considered emotional abuse.
