Golfer Ben Stauffer Takes Home Deborah Beran-Sponsored $5,000 Hole-in-One Prize
Ben Stauffer picked a great time to score a hole in one at the Waterfront Country Club. A guest of club member Rick Sells, Stauffer used an eight-iron to send his ball from the tee straight into the cup at the par-three fourth hole. That alone would have been an exciting way to start the 2015 Member-Guest tournament, but Stauffer also took home $5,000 for the perfect shot, thanks to a hole-in-one sponsorship from Smith Mountain Lake real estate agent Deborah Beran. Beran has sponsored the tournament in this way for years, and Stauffer's prize was delivered through contest insurance arranged by Wes Cothran of Cothran Insurance in Lynchburg, VA.
