DimensionU Announces Winners of 2018 Broward After School Math Competition

LogoAward winning educational video-game developer, DimensionU, Inc., announced results today from the 2018 Broward County Schools Before and After School Child Care, (BASCC), Math Games Competition, held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Seminole Middle School in Broward County, Florida. The event was the 5th annual school-year competition in partnership with BASCC. More than thirty-five BASCC school sites across Broward County began competing virtually in January in order to qualify to be one one of eight team slots available in the culminating finals event held on Saturday. Those eight school sites were: Bayview Elementary, Coral Springs K-8, Flamingo Elementary, Quiet Waters Elementary, Sunshine Elementary, Welleby Elementary, and Westchester Elementary. Each site was eligible to bring a team of 5 students accompanied by their school educator chaperones and parents. Additionally, After School Programs, Inc. (ASP), a private after school program provider headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, also participated in the competition with a team of students from Broward Estates Elementary.

DimensionU Announces Winners of 6th Annual Math Video Game Challenge

LogoAward winning educational video-game developer, DimensionU, Inc., announced results today from the 6th Annual SPAWAR Low Country Math Video Games Competition, held Thursday, March 14, 2018 at the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center Atlantic (SSC Atlantic) facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. The event was part of DimensionU's 2018 Spring Tournament Season and SPAWAR's outreach to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among students in the local area school systems. Middle schools students from Berkeley County Public Schools and Dorchester School District competed as teams representing their respective schools at the competition. The top four winning teams earned a spot in DimensionU's upcoming Department of Defense Annual Math Games Tournament being held in April 2018, where they will compete against other teams from military-based locations across the country. The 1st place winning team was Gregg Middle School (Team B), followed by 2nd place winner, Gregg Middle School (Team A), 3rd place winner, River Oaks Middle School (Team C) and 4th place winner, Hanahan Middle School (Team A).

DimensionU's $50,000 Scholarship Recipient Selects University of Florida

Mr. Chou, a recent graduate from American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida took first place at the live finals event in New York City back in May 2011, while attending Silver Trail Middle School of Broward County Public School District. He was awarded a $50,000 college scholarship and $1,000 in cash from DimensionU, Inc. Additionally, Chou was awarded a trip to Las Vegas to attend the iHeartRadio Music Festival, a prize contributed by former Lady Gaga manager, Mr. Troy Carter.

2016 DimensionU Department of Defense Math Games a Hit

LogoAward-winning, educational video game developer, DimensionU, Inc. hosted the 3rd Annual Department of Defense Math Games Tournament this week at four military research laboratories around the country. Middle school students from four states competed in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level teams. Each location represented a branch of the military and their respective STEM Outreach offices. Grade level teams from each location participated in five multiplayer rounds of mathematics-based video game play using DimensionU's gaming platform. Similar to other DimensionU competitive educational gaming events, the tournament took place in a virtual, first-person action video game world, where students compete and interact as teams solving mathematics problems. The tournament was augmented with live video communication across the four states, allowing students to see their respective challengers.

Forty BASCC school sites across Broward County began competing virtually in November 2015 in order to qualify for one of eight team slots available in the culminating finals event held on Saturday. The eight sites with the highest cumulative scores earned a place in the finals. Those eight school sites were: Flamingo Elementary, Hawkes Bluff Elementary, Heron Heights Elementary, Riverglades Elementary, Riverside Elementary, Sunset Lakes Elementary, Tropical Elementary, and Westchester Elementary. Each site was eligible to bring a team of 6 students accompanied by their school educator chaperones and parents.

DimensionU Announces Winners of 2016 Hawaii Math Games Tournament

LogoDimensionU, Inc. announced results today from its 2016 Hawaii Math Games Competition, held Friday, February 19, 2016 at the University of Hawaii – West Oahu through a collaborative effort with the Holomua GEAR UP Program and 21st Century Community Learning Centers. The 3rd annual event kicked off with an Oli Officiant, followed by the Campbell High School Color Guard processional and opening remarks from Hawaii DOE Deputy State Superintendent, Mr. Stephen Shatz and UH-West Oahu Chancellor, Dr. Doris Ching. In addition, Complex Area Superintendents, Ms. Ann Mahi from Nanakuli-Waianae, Ms. Ruth Silberstein, from Kaimuki-McKinley-Roosevelt and Mr. Chad Farias from Kau-Keaau-Pahoa also offered opening remarks and supportive words to help kick off the day's event. Papa John's Pizza from the Leeward Coast was the official lunch sponsor, providing pizza for the 200+ attendees.
