In July 2002, The Edward P. Bass Distinguished Visiting Environmental Scholars Program was created to bring premier scholars to Yale for an extended period of time. The scholars can belong to any field dealing with the study of environment. The program was a generous gift by Edward P. Bass to YIBS – the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies. These scholars are nominated through the Faculty Council of YIBS. The scholars would present seminars and interact with their fellow students, research groups and faculty and also participate in one or more academic units. And this year the program honors Dr. Bill Weber.
