There has been much discussion across the media regarding the recently announced DVLA changes to the driving license system. The change involves still issuing the credit-card style plastic license complete with the individuals picture, but removing the paper counterpart. Instead, the paper will be replaced with an online system when it comes to car hire. Why does this matter? Ultimately, car hire companies have typically used the paper counterpart and find it useful for their policies of hire as it lists the endorsements and/or actions of the individual in regards to driving. Previously, if a person had too many endorsements on their paper slip they would not be allowed to hire a car.
