The Independent, an online newspaper releasing news on culture, lifestyle, technology and sport have published an article which states that half of the British public do support more immigration of highly skilled workers. A poll which took place by Ipsos Mori and Kings College London found that fifty-two per cent of British adults agreed with more migrants coming in to do highly skilled jobs.

Following the Brexit decision there has been a lot of talk in regards to what is going to happen to international students going forward, with many current students worrying what their future holds and others from around the world unsure whether they're going to be able to study at the top UK universities in the future. In line with this, it has recently been revealed that Britain could face losing a shopping £2 billion a year should the government go ahead and take a tougher stance on international students once the UK leaves the UK.

The Mail Online has recently revealed that the number of nurses registering to work in the UK has dropped by a staggering 292% following the controversial Brexit vote. In July 2016, directly after the referendum 1,304 European nurses registered to work in the UK, however by December that number had decreased to just 101 – which is truly deviating news considering that there's not enough nursing staff available in the UK, with over 24,000 nursing vacancies currently being advertised. Experts are warning that it this trend continues, the NHS could begin to suffer tragically.

For years students from all over the world have been flocking to top UK universities to study, with a multitude of people each year wishing to study and earn their degree in the UK. In 2014-15 for example, a huge 437,000 students came to the UK to study from overseas. However, the number of students eager to study in the UK has now started to decrease.

According to a recent parliamentary report, immigrants could soon be expected to learn the English language before coming to Britain, or alternatively be enrolled on to compulsory language classes upon arrival. This has come about through the intentions of uniting all together and putting an end to the divided communities throughout Britain. It is thought that if everyone could speak English in Britain, people would be more likely to come together as one, with fewer isolated groups. Going forward a number of ministers are contemplating whether or not immigrants intending on settling in Britain should have to swear an "integration oath", and trying to come up with a concrete plan for immigration in the future.

New proposals from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry have suggested that going forward companies in London should still be allowed to sponsor skilled and in many cases much needed migrant workers with job offers for visas. London's economic success is heavily dependent on immigrant labour so it is likely that this is something in which the government will consider.

It has recently been reported that many businesses fear a shortage of staff due to the clampdown of immigration, research has shown that job roles such as accountants, bricklayers and toolmakers aren't being filled.
