According to the National Center for Health Statistics, over 31 million Americans are injured every year. While many of these injuries are the results of simple accidents, a surprising amount involve situations where an outside party can be blamed for the result. The federal court system alone sees about 512,000 personal injury cases, also known as tort cases, every year. However, only two percent of them go to trial. The rest are settled out of court, and the settlement is simply registered in order to make it official.
