The staff at Kiwi Energy, a NYC based energy retailer, rolled up their sleeves once again in support of La Casita Verde's composting project. Kiwi Energy has been a supporter of La Casita Verde since its inception in 2013 and is proud to support this worthy project and help see the community garden grow.

The Epic Ride is a 25-40 mile bike ride and annual fundraiser for Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI), a non-profit organization that works to develop, establish and maintain the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, a 14-mile path for pedestrians and cyclists from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge. BGI also seeks opportunities to create additional open spaces along the greenway route in order to provide the envelopment of nature and relief from the built environment.

On June 17th the Brooklyn Cyclones will take the field in the season opener against the Staten Island Yankees to begin their 16th season. The Cyclones began in 2001 as part of the New York Penn League and have been an affiliate of the New York Mets ever since. The team has become one of Brooklyn's best attractions as the borough's only minor league baseball team. They also standout in the Brooklyn community because of their passion for giving back. Realizing the value of aligning themselves with the Cyclones brand, Kiwi Energy and Ecogold recently took the opportunity to partner with the Brooklyn Cyclones.

During this time, then Parks Commissioner Thomas Hoving's campaign sought to quickly transform vacant and abandoned lots into usable open spaces. This paved the way for Green Guerillas and the 1970s community garden movement which began in the Lower East Side. Today, more than 600 community gardens serve as testaments to the skill, creativity, and determination of New York City's community gardeners. They grow food for their families and neighbors, and connect city kids to the earth. They also give seniors cool green spaces to pass summer days and allow people to kneel down together and garden in the city.
