According to industry statistics released by The National Retail Federation, just over $1.2 billion is spent annually on adult costumes, the bulk around Halloween. It is estimated that 43% of Americans don a costume each year, participating in the annual Halloween festivities. These same statistics reveal the most popular costumes year in and out continue to be, in order, witches, pirates and vampires. However, according to Deirdra Smith, spokesperson for BestMaternityCostumes.com, a common problem many expectant mothers face is the tight, restrictive costumes.
