Many of the applications which electrolyzers are presently designed for—industrial gas market, ammonia, and military—are less cost sensitive. However, when it comes to more cost sensitive market such as electricity generation or transportation, there is plethora of opportunity for cost improvement and system streamlining. As hydrogen can be produced directly at any location, it can be the apt method of producing hydrogen for hydrogen fuel cells. Accordingly, electrolyzers would be ideal if they are integrated into a portable, stationary or transportation power system to generate hydrogen.
