Sodium silicate, also known as waterglass or liquid glass, is extensively used in the manufacture of detergents, silica gel, cardboard, paper, textiles, paints, adhesives, pottery, sanitaryware, refractories, foundry, and wood processing industries. There are two grades of sodium silicate: neutral and alkaline. Materials of both grades are available either in liquid or solid form.
