Diethyl Phthalate (DEP) Market - Global Industry Expert Opinions Analysis, Emerging Opportunities, Market Size, Share, Growth Drivers, Market Trends, Statistics and Forecast 2015 - 2020

LogoDiethyl phthalate (DEP), also known as phthalol or solvanol in the industry, is a diethyl ester of phthalic acid. It is a colorless, oily liquid with slight odor. It is soluble in most common solvents such as acetone and alcohols and partly soluble in cold water. It is not flammable at room temperature, however, releases a mixture of toxic smoke when combusted. It is acutely toxic to humans and can cause damage to the liver and Central Nervous System (CNS). Diethyl phthalate (DEP) is biodegradable but breaks down into toxic chemicals and potentially harmful for the microorganisms in the soil. Phthalic anhydride is manufactured commercially, through the oxo process and/or the ald-ox process involving ethanol and the oxidation of naphthalene or o-xylene. This phthalic anhydride is then utilized for the production of diethyl phthalate (DEP) by reacting it with ethanol in the presence of catalyzing amount of concentrated sulfuric acid. The diethyl phthalate (DEP) produced has a purity higher than 99.7%.

Corrugated Cases Market - Global Industry Expert Opinions Analysis, Emerging Opportunities, Market Size, Share, Growth Drivers, Market Trends, Statistics and Forecast 2015 - 2020

LogoCorrugated cases are a type of packaging materials that are made of paper. A corrugated case is made up of two basic components; linerboard and fluting. Both the components are made up of a specific type of heavy paper known as containerboard. Corrugated cases can be of many types based on the material to be packed. With slight modifications corrugated cases can be used to pack a wide range of materials such as foods, beverages, chemicals, machines, equipment and tools among many others.

Mercaptoacetic Acid Market - Global Industry Expert Opinions Analysis, Emerging Opportunities, Market Size, Share, Growth Drivers, Market Trends, Statistics and Forecast 2015 - 2020

LogoMercaptoacetic acid consists of thiol or mercaptan and carboxylic acid. It was first identified by David R. Goddard in the early 1930's as a reagent for reducing the disulfide bonds in proteins such as keratin, a major component in hair, nails, etc.

Commodity Plastics Market - Global Industry Expert Opinions Analysis, Emerging Opportunities, Market Size, Share, Growth Drivers, Market Trends, Statistics and Forecast 2015 - 2020

LogoCommodity plastics are a class of plastic materials that are used in large volumes in a variety of applications including packaging, films, tapes, clothing, containers and a wide range of household products. These types of plastics are utilized in applications where mechanical properties and product service environments are less critical. This class of plastics is usually available at low costs and are not used for high performance specialized applications. The end use products include plates, cups, trays, containers, printed materials, signs and displays among other disposable products. Commodity plastics include a wide array of polymer chemistries such as polyethylene, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate and many others.

Neopentyl Glycol Market - Global Industry Expert Opinions Analysis, Emerging Opportunities, Market Size, Share, Growth Drivers, Market Trends, Statistics and Forecast 2015 - 2020

LogoNeopentyl Glycol (NPG) is a clear colorless organic compound with a mild minty odor. It is miscible with organic solvents and insoluble in water. It is manufactured synthetically in the industry through a two step process. First step involves an aldol reaction of formaldehyde with isobutyraldehyde which yields an intermediate chemical called hydroxypivaldehyde. The intermediate chemical hydroxypivaldehyde is then subjected to catalytic dehydrogenation to convert an aldehyde group to alcohol group to obtain neopentyl glycol (NPG). Neopentyl glycol (NPG) can be irritating and harmful if inhaled or comes in contact with skin or eyes. Neopentyl glycol (NPG) ingestion is known to cause severe burning in mouth and the digestive tract accompanied with pain. It is a possible carcinogen with a flash point around 200 degrees Celcius and may form explosive peroxides. Commercially, Neopentyl Glycol (NPG) is shipped in the form of flakes, slurry or molten state.
