If someone's looking to take their PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and start a new career as an PADI Scuba Diving Instructor the IDC Gili Islands is most likely the best place to start the journey.

In the latter part of 2013 Holly Macleod was awarded the “Commitment to Instructor Development” for her continued personal commitment to providing professional level scuba training. Additionally, the Dive Center was reclassified as a PADI Career Development Center (CDC) in recognition of the many continuing Instructor level education programs conducted and continued career development assistance.

Of course as one of the biggest tourism industries in the country it would be expected to see many Indonesian citizens working within it and actually today there are many local dive guides and PADI Divemasters working in dive centers. But becoming an instructor often seems almost impossible for many local Indonesian divers and this can be put down to a multitude of reasons.

Although the start date for the program is the 15th of August, candidates are strongly recommended to arrive at least 4 days earlier to take advantage of the pre-IDC workshops. The pre-IDC workshop is designed to reinforce theory learnt during the PADI Divemaster program and also brush up on general dive skills. Another added benefit is that during the workshops candidates will also get the chance to take some free fun dives.
