Let's face it, when you get time to visit Phuket the last things you want to think about are staff problems, paying bills and who's meeting you at the airport.

Well that's not quite true. But the point is, if you dream of living on a tropical island like Phuket, you probably want to be as close to the beach as you can.

The other day a client went to see a property developer in Phuket on his own. The developer showed him a few properties, but they were not what he was looking for. You see, he wanted to look at villas. But the developer only wanted to show him condos - his own un-sold stock. So, he asked about some re-sale properties he‘d seen on the Internet.

Believe it or not - the owner of this property paid 50,000,000 US dollars just for the view. He could have bought a similar property a few hundred metres away for a third of the price. But, it didn’t have an ocean view. So he plonked down an extra 50,000,000. It’s true that property with an ocean view usually costs much more. And that is especially true on Phuket - where prime sea view land is running out. It’s not going to get any better either.

You may be surprised to hear that Thailand has been chosen as the best country in the world for expats to live in.

But in Thailand I think you need your head examined if you are thinking about taking to the roads on two wheels. Not so here.

I get to see a lot of Phuket property. Too often it’s the same old thing - just slightly different. It’s rare I see something which really stands out.
