Of the approximately 220 million Americans who have credit files with the three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion), about 20% of the individuals have what is classified as very poor credit, bad credit, or "deep subprime scores," according to Experian. Research compiled from the credit bureau indicated, the number of people with really low credit scores rose recently more than 16% to 40 million.
