Brazilian housing policy aims at producing housing units for families that will emerge in from a segment with housing deficit at present. As a result, the rising trend of cohabitation would be controlled, thus rescuing the social liabilities of the deficit, reducing it to an acceptable standard by 2014. As observed, the pace of population growth and economic trajectory of the country will lead to the formation of 1.3 Million new households, per year on an average during 2010-2014. The country’s housing unit deficit eliminated in 2010, which is expected to rise by the end of 2011. It takes into consideration that the targets for reduction of insecurity and cohabitation are raised gradually. During 2009, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro accounted for a large number of constructions of houses.
