Susan Weitzman, PhD, authored the ground breaking book, Not to People like Us: Hidden Abuse in Upscale Marriages, which identifies the unique tactics and characteristics of domestic abuse in upscale marriages. She was featured on Oprah, 20/20, NPR and The Chicago Tribune when her book launched and recently in The Daily Beast and on First Business responding to the recent NFL scandal. She will share with us her broad and deep understanding of why people stay in abusive relationships. Possibly more important, she will help us discover how people can choose to leave abuse and what we can do as friends, colleagues, family and members of a broader community to support the abused individual. When we do nothing, we are all complicit. For a person caught in abuse to leave such a relationship, they need help in seeing the truth and support when they leave.
