According to statistics released by The NPD Group, the average pay-TV bill is expected to reach $123 by 2015, and upwards to $200 by 2020. With this in mind, Andrew White, author of the Xtreme Satellite TV blog says consumers have to be extremely savvy these days when it comes to choosing their satellite television company.

Satellites began relaying television signals in 1962 and technology has come a long way over the past 50 years. As a result, the Satellite Industry Association reports a seven percent growth in the industry in 2012, with much of this growth occurring in the satellite television sector. "Consumers looking to move to satellite television often hesitate to do so as they are concerned about choosing the right provider. Thanks to Xtreme Satellite TV, this no longer needs to be an issue," Joseph J. Hutchcraft of Xtreme Satellite TV declares.

The average American spends 37 to 40 hours a week watching TV, with 34 hours spent watching shows as they air and another three to six hours watching programs recorded on a DVR. The amount of time Americans spend watching shows on a DVR has more doubled over a four year period. "Finding the right television provider becomes of more importance when this is the case which is why many turn to Dish Network channels and the Hopper DVR," Scott B. Boyd of Xtreme Satellite TV declares.

As Americans struggle to recover from recessionary times, some previous needs are now being seen as not so needed, after all. Cable and satellite TV subscriptions are being cancelled in record numbers, sending satellite television companies like DISH TV and DirectTV scrambling to come up with deals to lure customers back.
