
A voluntary transfer of certain amount of water between the seller and buyer to satisfy the demands of the buyer is known as water trading. Water trading is a solution for end-users such as industries, agriculture, urban, and so on. The allocation of water is according to the demand from the end-users and equivalent prices are charged. A total of over 100 transactions have been conducted by several projects under the water trading market which amounted to more than US$ 10 Trillion, according to a study conducted by Forbes. The noticeable projects in the water trading market include Water Quality Trading, Dar es Salaam, Saltillo, Payments for Watershed Services, and Herediam.
