Reusing treated waste water for beneficial purposes such as agricultural and landscape irrigation, industrial processes, toilet flushing, and replenishing ground water basin is known as water recycling. Water is sometimes recycled and reused on site in few industries. An example of recycled water is the water that has been reused from municipal waste water or sewage. Recycled water is usually used for non-potable, that is, not for drinking, purposes such as agriculture, landscape, public parks, and golf course irrigation. Other non-potable applications are cooling water for power plants and oil refineries, industrial process water for such facilities as paper mills and carpet dryers, toilet flushing, dust control, construction activities, concrete mixing, and artificial lakes.
