Steelers SVG The Steelers logo is a variation of the Steelmark, a trademark and brand owned by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). It was originally designed in the 1940s by U.S. Steel to promote steel products and their benefits. The Steelmark has since come to symbolize the entire steel industry. The word “Steel” is written inside the circle and surrounded by three diamond-like figures, called hypocycloids with four cusps. The top astroid is yellow, the middle orange, and the bottom blue. In 1962, Steelers owner Rooney decided to use the Steelmark as a helmet logo for his team. He had the Steelmark displayed on his gold helmets that year, and it has been on one side only ever since. The Steelers also opted to change the color of their helmet from gold to black so that the logo would stand out more on the opposing team’s uniforms. The team also petitioned AISI to change the word “Steel” to "Steelers" in the logo. How did the Steelers get their logo? The Steelers’ logo has remained consistent over the years. Even though they’ve gone through two mergers, the team has maintained their iconic Pittsburgh skyline-inspired image. Their current logo features three colored four-pointed stars in yellow, red, and blue inside a gray circular frame. This design is bold, eye-catching, and memorable. The circle also symbolizes community, friendship, and unity. Initially, the logo featured the wordmark “Steelers” in black and white with a gold helmet. In 1962, the Steelers requested permission from the American Iron and Steel Institute to use their logo on their helmets. The AISI allowed them to use the logo as long as they put their number on only one side of the helmet. This design would stick with them for the rest of their history. The logo has since been updated, but the color scheme remains the same. Yellow continues to stand for coal (one of the raw materials used in making steel). The color also represents happiness, hope, and energy. Blue, on the other hand, signifies trust.
