It is not a word but an emotion of 2500 craftsmen of Varanasi. Putukua is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the dying culture of Varanasi’s Wooden Toy. Putukua is a platform set up with the sole aim of helping the craftsmen of Varanasi to get a marketplace to feature and sell their Wooden Toy and earn the glory for the art which has lost in tides of time. Originally, these craftsmen excelled in Ivory Carving. But after the ban of Ivory, they shifted to wood carving and passed on from generation to generation. Putukua aims to convey the story of these craftsmen and help them to rejuvenate this craft once used to be the pride of Varanasi and now are endangered irrespective of any reason.
