Legends of Mernac announced today the launch of yet another innovative contest, “Battle for Traddlebow Character Tournament”. LoM is sponsoring the $500.00 Grand Prize along with other sponsors such as Daz 3D. The BFT Tournament is FREE to enter, open to the public, and all forms of digital art are accepted. This contest was constructed around another recent groundbreaking event involving an international collaboration of short-stories, set around a specific battle in the fantasy world of Mernac. Amateur authors from around the world each wrote a short-story from a specific character’s perspective of events during this tumultuous period of Mernac history. This inspired challenge proved a successful venture for participating flourishing fiction authors, awarding them their first publication upon completion of the anthology. The new art “BFT Character Tournament” has been designed to illustrate the intriguing characters created during the collaborative write-in challenge.

Legends of Mernac, an OSC Project, dedicated to providing creative undiscovered talents of many disciplines outlets for their work, community critique, and even financial compensation, has awarded royalties to Mernacian artist, Kachinadoll. LoM currently provides several opportunities for financial income and audience exposure, including contests and artist branded Mernac merchandise. Sales of merchandise with an artist’s work will be paid royalties, in most cases, totaling fifty percent of the profits of the item, with the balance being re-invested into the LoM community. Mernac merchandise is sold on-site as well as in several Mernac off-sites, such as eBay. Merchandise branded by Mernacian art comes in a variety of forms, apparel, home and office items, greeting cards, calendars and more.

The website created and designed to bring the fantasy writing and fantasy digital art communities together with the online gaming and multi-media world has announced the appointment of Linda Casselman to the position of Vice President of Creativity. Linda has immediately assumed the position, working closely with all site contributors, in an effort to ensure a high quality final product of online never-ending fantasy fiction. LindaC, as she is known online at Mernac, has been working closely with LoM administration since early Beta Testing stages and has been instrumental in the leadership of novice fiction writers, providing a professional guiding hand at each new turn.

LoM released their first issue of the FREE monthly newsletter The Mernac Muse October 26, 2006. Recent reviews of the Muse received 100% positive feedback. All users have reported finding the FREE newsletter highly entertaining, informative, says one user, “this newsletter really creates a great fun atmosphere!” And the overall look of the newsletter is a wonderful artistic medieval theme that wonderfully complements the LoM site. The newsletter was designed by One World Designs based in the United Kingdom.

Legends of Mernac, now in its third month of operation, is conducting its first "Write-In" group activity for both experienced writers and those who may never have written non-fiction before, but are interested in learning in a fun, exciting, and supportive atmosphere.
