Mascot Pecan Shelling Company

The Mascot, in Glennville, Georgia, had a humble beginning in 1955 as a roadside tourist stop and gas station, catering to those traveling to and from Florida on the once busy Highway 301. Started by Mills and Juliet Tarver, the Mascot quickly became known for its unique handmade candies and fresh Georgia pecans. Mills started shelling pecans by hand and putting them in bags for tourists. Customers were soon calling back and asking for more. That’s when Mills started a small, mail order business shipping pecans. As the business grew, Mills added an automated cracking system and formed Mascot Pecan Company specializing in fresh-shelled Georgia pecans. The roadside store and gas station were closed in the late 1960s when most of the traffic on Hwy. 301 was routed to Interstate-95 Payment Methods: credit card, G-Pay Business Hours: (Mon-Fri)8am–5pm
