Shop and establishment registration

Shops and establishment certificate The Tamil Nadu Shop and Establishment Act is a state law that governs how businesses operate and behave in the state. Furthermore, the State Department of Labor, which is responsible for enforcing the Shops and Establishment Act, manages registrations for the Act, and the certificates issued by it are used as proof of registration among unorganised Small Scale Industry (SSI) or Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) businesses. The Tamil Nadu Shop and Establishment Act, 1947, regulates shops as well as commercial establishments, restaurants, eating houses, theatres, and other public amusement and entertainment venues. Local district labour officers select inspectors to issue certificates for the registration of establishments under the Shops and Establishment registration Act. Owners of shops or commercial establishments must send their applications to the Inspector in the appropriate format, along with the necessary fees, within 30 days of the start of their operations.
