On Saturday, February 20, the Manayunk neighborhood will be overcome with the colorful costumes and joyous sounds of the Philadelphia Mummers Parade! Residents and visitors will get a chance to experience the fine Mummers of the String Band Association, who will be playing live music as they march down Main Street. ADVENT, the advertising, events, and entertainment agency, once again produced the iconic event in conjunction with the Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC) to help preserve and promote the Mummers' tradition.

The Second Annual Mummers' Mardi Gras Parade in Manayunk is Saturday, February 20, 2016 beginning at 11 am along the length of Manayunk's iconic Main Street shopping and dining district (rain date is Saturday, February 27th). This family-focused celebration of the music and pageantry of the Mummers was conceived as a means to keep Philadelphia's renowned Mummers' tradition alive and well. In recent years, largely as result of the national economic downturn and the resulting cuts to the city's budget, the Mummers Association has been hard hit economically, causing a reduction in the ranks of Mummers and their performance clubs, and necessitating a shortened parade route on New Year's Day, the Mummers' grandest annual stage. The announcement of the Second Annual Mummers Mardi Gras Parade was made today by Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC) Executive Director Jane Lipton; Joe DeCandido, President of Advent Consulting (ADVENT), the event promoters; and Tom Loomis, President of the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association (PMSBA).

The finest Mummers of the String Band Association will be back to parade down the Main Street of Philadelphia's Manayunk neighborhood in 2016. ADVENT, the premier events, advertising and entertainment agency has been busy producing and promoting the festive celebration to make the tradition come alive once again. Mummers Mardi Gras of 2016 is set to take place on February 20th from 11 am to 1 pm and will have a rain date set in case of inclement weather. Residents of the city and visitors are invited to attend the day-long soiree, which will occupy Green Lane all the way to Lock Street with colorful costumes and entertaining performances.

With a little over three months until the 3rd Annual Mummers Mardi Gras, ADVENT, the leading advertising, entertainment and event planning agency of Philadelphia, is hard at work strategizing the thrilling city tradition. On a date to be announced in February, the much-anticipated colorful celebration will take over Main Street in Manayunk to bring a day of excitement to the neighborhood. As an event that was produced in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the Mummers tradition in Philadelphia, Mummers Mardi Gras has been met with great success and support. Through numerous sponsorships and advertising methods, the event has consistently grown in its first two years, and the producers are looking to maintain that rising trend. As two years of the Mummers Mardi Gras event have passed, the producers at ADVENT are aiming to make the 2016 event bigger and better than ever. A new tradition began in Philadelphia in 2014, and various Mummers brigades got together during Mardi Gras week to put their performances on display. Changing from a 21-plus event, the parade moved from Northern Liberties to Manayunk and was geared toward entertaining the entire family.
